How do I Compare and Merge Text Files with Diffuse?
We use text files for wide range of tasks in the daily computing life. It might be often necessary to compare and merge the contents of two text files. It is difficult to perform this task by opening two windows of NotePad. Hence, it is necessary to make use of third party tools which performs the functionality of comparing and merging text files.
Diffuse is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based tool with which you can compare and merge the contents of two text files easily. In order to work with Diffuse, you should download and install the executable file. You will view a screen as shown below
Select File | Open File and pick your text file from the folder you have saved them. You should activate the first window by clicking on any empty area of the screen. Otherwise, the content of the first file will be copied to the second window.
You can easily convert the content from lower case to upper case and vice versa by selecting Format menu.
You can merge the content by using the options from the Merge menu
With Diffuse, it is possible to open more than one tab. You can create another tab by selecting File | Open File In New Tab menu.
As you can see it is very easy to work with Diffuse which will help you to compare and merge text files.
