Smarter Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 – iPad Killer

August 21st, 2011 8 Comments

I recently replaced my Nokia 5233 with Samsung Wave II and I am amazed by the killer features included with Wave II. My phone is now faster and responsive with amazing screen and touch interface.

However, I am on a lookout for an alternative gadget which is bigger than Wave so that I will have a larger working area. I know that I will have to buy a tablet for this purpose. I decided to buy Apple iPad but I put the purchase plan on hold when I came to know about the recent launch of Samsung Galaxy Tab 750. I feel that it’s better to wait for some more time so that I can get a gadget which is better than all existing products.

Galaxy Tab 750 was recently launched in Bangalore by Samsung and will be available on the markets within the next few months. Samsung executives explained the core features of Galaxy Tab 750 along with a live demo of the tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 Launch Video

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 includes a big 10.1 inch sharper HD quality screen with 1280 x 800 WXGA display and pixel density of 149 ppi, which gives better user experience for work and play. The tablet is powered by latest Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) platform, which increases productivity with the help of effective multi tasking capabilities.

The tab also features a new smarter web browser with support for Adobe Flash Player. I am sure it will provide better multitasking and speed with HSPA+. Moreover, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great portable device as it weighs only 565 grams and 8.6 mm slim.

As soon as you boot the Galaxy Tab, you will view Live Panel, which is a fully customizable home screen. You can directly access e-mail, image gallery, web sites, social media feeds directly from the Live Panel. A core feature of the Live Screen is its ability to automatically update data such as Twitter Feeds. Hence, you will have latest up-to-date information at your finger tips.

Inside the Live Panel Screen, you will view Mini Apps such as Calendar, Memo, World Clock, Calculator, Task Manager and shortcuts for Facebook, Twitter. An unique feature of Mini Apps is their ability to Multi Task. Hence, you will be able to work with multiple Mini Apps at a time which truly improves productivity.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 includes Readers Hub with support for zoom in/out, font enlargement and virtual bookmarks. I am sure that these features improve the digital reading experience. You can read books, newspapers and magazines in multiple languages with the help of large bright screen. I review books for leading publishers and for this purpose I receive books in digital format. I can now read them using Galaxy Tab 750 easily without depending upon laptop.

While Music Hub enables you to access an extensive catalog of popular and classic songs along with relevant information about artist, album art, music reviews, Social Hub provides you with an ability to easily manage e-mail, Instant Messaging and social networking accounts through one single user interface.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 ships preloaded with Polaris Office with which you can create, edit and view various documents including PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Moreover, the clipboard has an ability to store 20 text and images which is sufficient for most of the tech geeks. I can’t wait any more time as I am eagerly waiting for my next vacation trip so that I can carry my Galaxy Tab 750 to work in between vacation.

As I mentioned above, the tablet includes a big 10.1 inch screen. The screen has dual speakers which create a surround sound effect while playing music and videos. I am sure that Galaxy Tab 750 provides a real home theatre environment.

While the 3MP auto-focus front camera included with Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 enables you to video chat with your family, friend or client with great clarity, rear camera with LED flash allows you to capture photo snaps and HD video.

I have a pretty good typing speed since I work as a freelance writer. Hence, I always depend upon docking stations while grabbing new gadgets. With Samsung keyboard case or desktop dock for Galaxy Tab 750, I will be able to work faster with the tablet. I will not be able to type in 2 pages of text using Touch interface within 10 minutes but with desktop dock I will be able to rapidly enter the content. It would be great if Samsung provides the dock also along with the tab 750.

With Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 powered by Honeycomb operating system, you will be able to work in the same way as you normally do with your PC/laptop. Android is the biggest player in the mobile computing field as it contains huge number of Apps which you can make use of them with your Galaxy Tab 750. Moreover, the tablet is bundled with the entire suite of Google Services such as Talk, Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Latitude, Places and Maps Navigation (Beta).

Conclusion

As you can see from the above review, Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 tablet ships with tons of new features not found in any other gadgets. With 1GHz dual core processor, you will be able to work faster and in minimum amount of time. I feel that the tablet is rightly priced at Rs 36000/-since it contains improved hardware with rich features.

I will not be able to completely replace my laptop with the tablet since I work with Visual Studio and .NET based products. However, I will be able to work with Galaxy Tab 750 during lunch break and in nights when I don’t use my laptop. And of course when I am on vacation.

I can read books and write reviews using Galaxy Tab 750 during lunch break and then send the file to my e-mail address. I can then edit the document further when I work on my laptop after 3 PM and send the review for publication. I will be able to save time with the tablet. I am sure that Galaxy Tab 750 creates WOW effect among tech geeks like myself.
