Review – Samsung Wave II
I was bit hesitant to purchase a new phone when my cool Nokia 5233 was working properly. However, I went ahead and purchased Samsung Wave II from ebay.in.
I managed to buy the phone with a Rs 1000 off coupon and paid Rs 16800 in total. Currently, the phone is available for around Rs 13,000 and ships with super fast Samsung Bada Operating System.
Samsung Wave II has lot of features such as a big 3.7 inch LED MOLED touch screen, 5 MP Auto Focus camera with Touch Focus and LED flash. Moreover, the camera automatically detects through face, smile and blink modes. The phone has the ability to record amazing videos at 30 frame per second.
The phone has built-in Accelerometer sensor which enables you to rotate images. I had used the phone when I went for a short vacation. I took several photos and videos.
I noticed that photos are not that much sharper and contain reflections if the lighting is poor. However, videos are better especially those taken from inside a running train.
A big disadvantage of Samsung Wave II is that it tends to heat up a lot when used for an extended period of time. Moreover, the battery life is not that much great. I used to charge the phone once in a week as I am not a power user.
The side surface of the phone is too soft for me. I had to handle it sharply. Otherwise, it would fall. It would be helpful if Samsung provides some sort of grip for protection. However, Samsung provides a separate pouch along with the phone, which you can use while the phone is not in use.
The touch screen is great and very fast compared to Nokia phones. I liked the smoothness of the touch sensor. The icons are separated in three pages. You can point your finger and move to the next page very easily.
Samsung Wave II includes flight mode feature. The phone is social media optimized and includes apps for Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. I would suggest Samsung to develop an app for Skype to facilitate communication through Wireless Internet.
The size of Samsung Wave II is bigger and hence you require a big shirt pocket when you travel. The phone has lot of features and is one of the best smart phones available on the market.
If you require a small handy phone then you should look elsewhere as Samsung Wave II S8530 is only for tech geek enthusiasts.
