Easily Write Mathematical Equations with MathType | TechnoEnclave

I had examined the usage of Math Input Panel which ships with Windows 7 operating system few days back. Even though Math Input Panel is an excellent tool, it lacks the ability to add advanced mathematical equations and symbols. Hence, you should make use of third party software such as MathType, which is a powerful interactive equation editor. The software enables you to add advanced mathematical equations in a wide range of applications such as word processing, web pages, desktop publishing, presentations, elearning, TeX, LaTeX, and MathML documents.

Developed by Design Science, MathType is available in both Windows and Macintosh environments. The software is not free. However, you can test drive the features with a fully functional 30 day evaluation version. The software enables you to enter Math by hand including the ability to point and click editing with automatic formatting. Moreover, you can write equations using keyboard shortcuts and save expressions in the Toolbar.

In order to download the trial version, you should select a version corresponding to your operating system and provide your email address. MathType can be easily installed within two minutes after going through the installation process.

You will view a screen as shown below as soon as you launch MathType after a successful installation

As you can see the Toolbar contains a wide range of mathematical equations followed by a large writing area where you will edit the equations. The Toolbar itself contains sub bars with different equations in various Math topics.

With the help of MathType, you can insert symbols from Edit | Insert Symbol menu. You will view a new dialog as shown below

You can easily edit the predefined equations by right clicking the relevant symbol from the Toolbar and selecting Edit menu as shown below

As soon as you click Edit option, a new window will be opened with the relevant equation as shown below from where you can edit it easily.

From my point of view, MathType is an excellent tool with which you can easily create documents with mathematical equations, symbols and formulas. It will be very useful for school and college students as they can make use of MathType to create classroom presentations. The software will also be useful for Data Entry Operators who create thesis and PowerPoint presentations for their clients.
